Our family had the good fortune of meeting Patrick Dowling in 2010 when our son was 21. Our entire family was broken as a result of learning about his disease. I can’t imagine our son, and our family, being placed in more capable hands. Patrick knew exactly what to say to my husband, our daughter and me when we were frightened and confused about how we needed to change as parents and as a family. The times in our lives when we are most emotional — in this case, most fearful and uncertain — are the times when we desperately need someone to come into our lives who is knowledgeable, compassionate, deeply committed and who provides a sense that we are not alone and that there is hope. Thankfully, that person for us was Patrick Dowling. To this day, I consider Patrick a friend and someone I would recommend to anyone I care about, without hesitation.
